Russia Says Peace Agreement Memorandum with Ukraine is in Progress

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced Wednesday that work is underway on a memorandum for a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. The details of the memorandum are largely confidential, according to Peskov.

Peskov stated that Russia is open to contributions from any country willing to help resolve the ongoing conflict. He also mentioned that the location for further negotiations between the two countries has not yet been determined. In addition, Russia is working on implementing a prisoner exchange agreement.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with former U.S. President Donald Trump, during which they agreed that Russia would prepare a draft memorandum. The memorandum is expected to address core issues such as principles for resolving the crisis, a potential timeline for a peace deal, and conditions for a temporary ceasefire.

Following the phone call between Putin and Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his country’s stance on territorial integrity. He also urged Trump to ensure Ukraine’s involvement in any decisions regarding the country, emphasizing that no decision should be made without their participation.

The peace memorandum is expected to outline the key issues and potential pathways toward ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The ongoing situation remains complex, with both sides holding firm on key issues as negotiations continue.
