Dyson has announced a new vacuum cleaner, the PencilVac, characterized by its ultra-thin and lightweight design.
The PencilVac distinguishes itself with a slim profile, measuring only 1.5 inches in diameter without the floorhead, and weighing approximately 4 pounds.
The compact size is achieved through a newly developed Dyson Hyperdymium 140k motor, which is 1.1 inches wide and concealed within the handle.
Instead of traditional brush rollers, the PencilVac features a ‘Fluffycones’ floorhead with four conical brushrolls designed to prevent hair tangling. The floorhead also incorporates laser-like illumination on both the front and back of the head, and is designed to clean right to the edges of rooms, which further suggests a specialization for hard floors.
The vacuum’s dust cup, hidden within the handle, has a small capacity of 0.08L but incorporates a dust compression system to maximize space.
The emptying mechanism is described as a “syringe, no-touch bin ejection mechanism” and simultaneously wipes the internal mechanisms.
The PencilVac incorporates a ‘Rotating combi-crevice tool’, designed for cleaning in hard-to-reach areas.
The new vacuum is button-operated, connected to the MyDyson app, and comes equipped with a Conical hair screw tool for tackling long hair on furniture.
The PencilVac is slated for an August 2025 launch in Australia. The expected UK launch date is sometime in 2026 with no US release information currently available. Pricing details are yet to be announced.
